Shu (舒) means comfort — the soothed, settled feeling of skin that's finally at ease.

Shu began with a small, private annoyance. Every evening, our founder would find dry flakes clinging to her underwear — her skin was simply too dry, and ordinary cotton, for all its breathability, wasn't smooth enough to leave her skin alone. Moisturizer helped her skin, but no fabric seemed to meet her halfway: gentle on dry skin, smooth enough not to catch, honest enough not to promise miracles.

The answer came, unexpectedly, at a desert music festival in Arizona. Surrounded by dry air and wide-open sky, she started sketching what would become our first collection: Desert Oasis — underwear designed for skin that dries out easily, built around a simple belief: even in the driest places, comfort is possible.

Our material direction is simple: the everyday breathability of organic cotton, softened by the smooth touch of mulberry silk. Silk's long, smooth fibers resist pilling, so flakes have less to cling to, and the fabric feels less drying against the skin. We make no medical claims — fabric is fabric, not medicine. Our promise is narrower and, we think, more honest: low friction, fewer flakes, nothing that makes dry skin feel drier.

That name — Shu, comfort — guides two parts of every piece: the fabric and the fit. We’re refining both together, because comfort should be considered in the material and in the shape, not added as a slogan at the end.

We're still in development — getting the blend, the knit, and the fit right takes time, and we'd rather be slow than sorry. We're starting with one thing done well: a mid-rise panty. From there, Shu will grow into bras, more intimates, and sleepwear — everything your skin touches first.
